Preventing Dental Injuries

Dental injuries have the potential to occur in any sport where there is a risk of a blow to the head or face from either an opponent or equipment.

While wearing a mouthguard can help to prevent dental injury, it is important that sports personnel are aware of what should be done should a dental injury occur.

Alcohol & Exercise Recovery : Post-game drinks warning

Even a moderate amount of alcohol slows recovery from strenuous exercise, a new study has found.

The study featured in The Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport (JSAMS), published by Sports Medicine Australia, investigated whether the consumption of alcohol post exercise has an effect on recovery.

Is Your Club Signed Up to Sports Injury Tracker?

Sports Medicine AustraliaSports Injury Tracker is Sports Medicine Australia's online Sports Injury Surveillance Program. Sports Injury Tracker is free for community sport and recreation clubs to record their injury incidents. Information within the system is collected using an electronic version of the standard Injury Record form which will be similar, if not the same or more detailed, as the forms used by you to record insurance information. Sports Injury Tracker can replace the paper based system and be an online, secure record of all minor, major and severe incidents.

If you are interested in a career in sports medicine and science then don’t miss CISM2010.
